Overview
This course applies to health and community service workers providing services according to established organisation procedures and provides a foundational level of competency. Students enrolling in this course should work or volunteer in the health or community services sectors.

Career Opportunities
On completion of this course, students will receive a Short Course Statement of Attainment. This unit assists students to develop knowledge and skills for application in a range of human services where workers may encounter victims of domestic and family violence. Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements, however, students enrolling in this course should work or volunteer in the health or community services sectors
To achieve competency in this Accredited Course, participants will be required to upload three separate videos of them conducting a role play interview with clients as part of their assessment. The role play clients may be other students, workplace supervisors or other adults suitable to play the role of each of three clients. It is the responsibility of the student to organise each person to play the role of each client and this will not be arranged through CQUniversity teaching staff.
The role play videos will demonstrate the following:
- Identify and respond to the needs of at least three clients affected by domestic and family violence, according to legal and ethical requirements.
- Use the following interpersonal skills when working with the client.
- Appropriate questioning
- Active listening
- Rapport building
- Apply organisational standards, policies and procedures that comply with legislative and statutory requirements
- Complete accurate and comprehensive records and reports
- Explain the rights and responsibilities of both the client and the worker during contact
- Complete client referral documentation according to the organisation’s requirements
- Provide the client with appropriate information about the services available to them based on their needs
