Program

The conference will consist of a mix of keynote presentations, panel sessions, workshop discussions, concurrent paper presentation sessions, a joint research sharing and industry sponsors’ session including the Ideas Factory and research poster presentations. The conference will also feature a gala dinner at the internationally award winning Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and Dance Theatre and will close with the celebrated annual Great Debate.

Monday 11 February PhD/ECR Workshop

Location: Hotel Pullman Cairns International17 Abbott Street, Cairns, QLD 4870

Activities: PhD/ECR workshop, research methods round-tables and panel discussions

Social Function: Informal canapes and networking drinks will be held (Location to be advised).

The Annual CAUTHE Bill Faulkner PhD and research higher degree students and Early Career Researcher (ECR) workshop will be held on Monday the 11th of February, at the Pullman Cairns International.

  • The aim of the PhD and research higher degree students’ workshop will be to create a supportive network for research students to discuss relevant issues and seek feedback from experienced faculty from around the world. Research students will submit a 1000 word paper on their research topic to the PhD workshop organising team for presentation and round-table discussions.
  • The ECR workshop will focus on providing new faculty members and early career researchers with mentoring to develop their research, teaching and service agenda to allow them to achieve their academic goals.

The two streams will run concurrently with some sessions being held conjointly. The full-day workshop will be held at the Pullman Cairns International Hotel and will finish with an informal networking drinks and canapes where attendees will be joined by full conference delegates that arrive on Monday.

Tuesday 12 February

Location: Pullman Cairns International Hotel, 17 Abbott Street, Cairns, QLD 4870.

Activities: Official conference opening welcome, keynote 1; panel session 1; concurrent sessions, tourism and art guest speaker, CAUTHE Annual General Meeting.

Social Function: Welcome cocktail reception - situated amongst the lush tropical surrounds of Pullman Cairns International's Daintree's pool deck

Conference Opening Start Time: 8:30 am.

Welcome Cocktail Reception Start Time: 6:00 pm.

Conference registration desk will be available for registrations from 8:00 am.

Wednesday 13 February

Activities: CAUTHE heads of discipline breakfast meeting; keynote 2; concurrent sessions; research sharing session - Ideas Factory; industry engagement and Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings.

Heads of Discipline Breakfast Meeting Start Time: 7:30 am.

Conference Start Time: 8:30.am.

Conference registration desk will be available for registration from 8:00 am.

Thursday 14 February

Location: Pullman Cairns International Hotel, 17 Abbott Street, Cairns, QLD 4870

Activities: Keynote 3; panel session 2; concurrent sessions; SIG meetings; The Great Debate; conference close and handover.

Social Function: Conference Gala Dinner - Theme is "Simply Red". In recognition of Chinese New Year and Valentines Day, put on your best red outfit, come dressed as something "Red" (an apple, a slice of watermelon, a strawberry, a rose, or a fire truck perhaps), or you can simply add a "red tie", a "red beret" or your best red dancing shoes.

Conference Start Time: 8:30 am

Gala Dinner Start Time: 6:30 pm. Buses will be departing from the Pullman Cairns International Hotel from 6:00 pm.

Sunday 10 February; Friday 15 - Sunday 17 February

Pre and post conference technical workshops and industry tours are planned but will be subject to numbers and will be additional costs for participants.

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP MEETINGS

CAUTHE Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will have the opportunity to meet during the conference. CAUTHE currently supports eight SIGs. Two, one and a half hour sessions will be arranged for the groups to meet to discuss the various research agendas and also introduce the groups to potential new members.
