About the Provost
As Provost, Professor Helen Huntly is responsible for leading and driving the University’s academic strategic and operational agendas for the Higher Education Division portfolio. Professor Huntly provides executive leadership to whole-of-university strategy, operational plans and policy, together with their associated planning, implementation and management. Professor Huntly contributes to, oversees and implements relevant organisational systems and quality assurance, budget allocation and management across the Division, oversees associated line management of key functional and business units, and facilitates communication, team work, and collegial management among the members of the senior executive team.
The role provides executive leadership of the agenda that will deliver full integration of the vocational and higher education portfolios to form a fully comprehensive (dual sector) university. It also drives the development of new courses, qualifications and growth in student load, as well as engagement with the University’s wider communities in terms of teaching, accessibility and educational quality.
The Provost is supported by the Pro Vice-Chancellors of VET Operations and Growth, and Learning and Teaching, as well as Deans of the Schools of Health, Medical and Applied Science; Nursing, Midwifery and Social Futures; Business and Law; Education and the Arts; Engineering and Technology; Access Education.
About Professor Helen Huntly
Professor Huntly has been with CQUniversity for more than 25 years. Professor Huntly took up her appointment as Provost in late 2016, following her appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry, Vocational Training and Access Education Division) in 2015. Professor Huntly was the former Dean of the School of Education and the Arts and was a senior manager in Higher Education, and prior to that, a teacher in the vocational sector.
As such, Professor Huntly has a deep understanding and knowledge of both higher education and vocational training and has played a critical leadership role in the merger of CQUniversity and CQ TAFE.
Helen’s qualifications include a Doctor of Education (CQUniversity 2004), Master of Education Studies (CQUniversity 1999), Bachelor of Education (BCAE1980), and a Diploma of Teaching Health & Physical Education (KGCAE 1980).
