About the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International & Services)
The Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International & Services) is responsible for oversight and strategic management of the facilities and services which support the overall operations of the University. The Vice President and Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor is responsible, as part of the Senior Executive for overall strategic planning, commercial operations and leadership of the business operations for the university.
Within the University Services Portfolio lie the Directorates of Marketing, Facilities Management, People and Culture, Library Services, Information Technology, and Commercial Services. The International Portfolio is responsible for management of the University's global operations including recruitment; delivery of programs; compliance; and government relations through embassies across the globe.
The University has embarked on a significant renewal and development process in which it seeks to improve service delivery, through improved facilities and technology, better practice and increase its market share across a large multi-city university campus structure. The role of the University Services and International portfolios will be critical in coming years in ensuring that this is delivered.
About Mr Dawson
Whilst a relative newcomer to the University sector, Mr Dawson has had extensive experience in leading capital intensive complex community linked organisations. His experience includes more than 10 years in senior roles within some of the largest councils and water utilities in Australia including Albert Shire, Logan City and Brisbane City Council, as well as executive roles in Brisbane Water and Coliban Water in Victoria. He is a business turnaround and execution specialist, having successfully rebuilt numerous business across the country in both the public and private sectors.
He was the Chief Executive Officer for the Victorian Farmers' Federation, arguable the largest Farm Advocacy Organisation in Australia, followed by terms as Chief Executive Officer at Beaudesert Shire Council and Rockhampton Regional Council before taking on the Vice-President and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Services) role at CQUniversity.
