The Emerging Leadership Graduate Program
CQUniversity and Performance People Pty Ltd have been delivering workshops in leadership to the emerging leaders of CQUniversity Australia for four years through the Emerging Leadership Program. In this time more than 70 emerging leaders have completed the program.
It is time to offer a new challenge, and new opportunities to develop leadership skill to these emerging leaders.
The Emerging Leadership Graduate Program is for people who have completed at least eight courses of the Emerging Leadership Program, and are seeking further opportunities to develop leadership skills. In 2012, the program involves three initiatives:
Team Building for Leaders (Course 1: 2 sessions) - 9.00-12.00, 26 October & 2 November 2012
This two half-day initiative involves learning practical skills and theory for working with teams. Participants will come to a better understanding of the personal preferences team members have in participating and leading teams. They will appreciate how the stages of team development (forming, storming, etc) can be used to help teams to perform better. And they will undertake hands-on team building activities – learning to facilitate these activities themselves.
Presentation Skills (Course 2: 5 sessions) - 10.30-12.30, 20 & 27 July, 3, 10 & 17 August
This initiative is spread over five 2-hour sessions. It is called a Presentation Bootcamp, as it involves learning through the application of practical presentation skills. The topics covered include planning; preparing; practising; and delivering polished, professional presentations. Participants plan and deliver two presentations during the sessions and by completing set homework tasks.
Facilitation Skills for Leaders (Course 3: 2 sessions) - 9.00-12.00, 20 & 22 November
This two half-day initiative involves facilitating groups to solve problems, exploit opportunities and make plans for the future. The first session covers a substantial body of conceptual knowledge and practical processes. The second session involves practical application of the theory, with participants facilitating their peers in group sessions to focus on understanding and solving real University problems.
Numbers for the three courses are limited to ensure participants are individually engaged in learning, and that each person receives personal attention from the facilitator.
Facilitator - Geoff Higgins
Geoff heard requests for more opportunities for learning collaboratively with other emerging leaders from many people who had completed the Emerging Leadership Program. It is this feedback which led to the establishment of the Emerging Leadership Graduate Program.
Geoff has extensive experience in leadership development and has worked with CQUniversity and other organisations in the region on a broad range of skills development initiatives. Geoff brings practical skills, useful tools, and an enthusiasm for excellence in leadership to his role in facilitating these initiatives.
Geoff has been a line manager and human resources manager at a Lend Lease Group company, and a consultant with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). He has been providing management consulting services from his base in Rockhampton for 14 years.
The workshops will be conducted on the Rockhampton campus of CQUniversity Australia.
Cost and Timetable
The cost (per person) of each course is outlined below and covers all sessions within each course title. This includes tea, coffee, morning tea and workbooks.
