Welcome to the School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences

Our career-oriented programs are taught by enthusiastic staff with extensive industry experience, expertise in research, teaching and consulting in their areas of interest. The school offers a number of career pathways across our four Colleges: Science and Sustainability; Clinical Sciences; Health Sciences; and Psychology.

Our highly qualified and experienced staff are great educators and researchers. Our research activities focus on national research priorities that are important for social, environmental and economic well-being, both nationally and globally. A majority of our research is conducted in partnership with local, state and federal governments, industry and other organisations with a particular focus on regional needs.

College of Science and Sustainability

The College of Science and Sustainability works with communities, industries and governments to provide educational training and applied research solutions that make a real-world difference. Our staff share a passion for teaching the next generation of domestic and international students by delivering quality distance and on campus education in the areas of Agriculture, Emergency and Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, and Science. As one of the larger research Colleges within CQUniversity, we strive to work with a range of stakeholders to deliver useful collaborations and practical solutions. College of Clinical Sciences

The College of Clinical Sciences works with communities, industry and governments to provide health, science and aesthetic related educational training and applied research solutions that make a real-world difference. Our academics teach industry relevant knowledge and skills in state-of-the-art facilities across multiple campuses. Our undergraduate degree offerings include Medical Sonography, Medical Imaging, Echocardiography / Cardiac Physiology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, Nutrition and Clinical Measurement. Our vocational sector offerings include Beauty and Hairdressing. Our postgraduate course offerings include a Graduate Certificate and Masters in Ultrasound. Most of these courses involve students acquiring knowledge and initial skills training in simulation labs then attending industry sourced student placements which enable students to gain the competencies required to be 'job ready' on graduation. These external industry placements enable students to network with potential employers and builds the professional relationships for career progression. Our teaching, research and industry placements cover a large geographical area across Australia.

Our particular research strengths are in health promotion & public health, cardiovascular disease, cancer, regenerative medicine and infectious diseases. According to the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA), we are currently ranked 4 ('above world standard') in Medical and Health Sciences (11 FoR code). College of Health Sciences

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) contains eight separate higher education disciplines and nine courses making it one of the largest in the School of Health Medical and Applied Sciences. The College offers Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 7 qualifications in Allied Health, Chiropractic Science, Oral Health and Exercise and Sport Sciences; Level 8 qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Speech Pathology; and Level 9 qualifications in Clinical Chiropractic. All professional courses are fully accredited with the relevant external accrediting agency and where appropriate comply with the regulations of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) allowing graduates to directly register as health professionals on successful completion of their studies. Additionally, with CQU being a comprehensive university, CHS also offer/facilitates a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications; Certificate II in Sport & Recreation, Certificate III in Fitness, Allied Health Assistance, & Dental Assisting, Certificate IV in Fitness, and a Diploma of Remedial Massage. College of Psychology

The College of Psychology promotes an evidence-based focus to the examination, understanding and enhancement of health and wellbeing within individuals, groups, organisations and communities. The College is comprised of a team of diverse and innovative academics who are world class researchers and who are deeply engaged with the communities in which they live and work.
