Unleash Your Stories: Creative Exercises for Creative Writers

Do you have ideas that you want to explore using creative writing? Are you working on a writing project but feel stuck with where to take it next? Do you need a day of creative inspiration to help you start or advance your storytelling?

Join us in a workshop that uses creative exercises and creative thinking to unleash fresh ideas and innovative approaches. This workshop, for writers of all ages and at all stages, will help you inject some creativity into your ideas and projects.

Apply your creative thinking to the individual and group writing tasks used on the day to help spark new ideas and inspired new stories. If you want to boost your creativity and write compelling stories, this one-day catered workshop is ideal.
You will:

  • Learn the right way to structure your story
  • Write powerful scenes and compelling characters

Whether you’ve written a lot in the past, or nothing at all; if you are in an occupation that’s not challenging you creatively; or are perhaps simply wanting to start a new chapter in your life, this course will help launch your new creative self and move forward with your writing career, projects and goals.

Professor Craig Batty, Professor of Creative Writing

Craig has published over 70 books, book chapters, journal articles and creative research works, all on the topics of creative writing and screenwriting. He is an expert teacher and mentor, with experiences teaching creative writing in community, school and university settings.
He is currently Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Technology Sydney and is a close friend to CQUniversity Noosa.

Doctor Liz Ellison, Lecturer in Creative Industries 

Dr Liz Ellison is a Lecturer in Creative Industries at CQUniversity, based at the Noosa campus. Liz teaches the Graduate Certificate of Creative & Professional Practice and is the Academic Coordinator of CQU’s Creative Arts Research Training Academy. Liz also researches and writes about Australian beaches, beach culture, and how beaches are represented in our national literature and media. She has a varied history in the creative arts, including creative writing, theatre, and film. She publishes about Australian popular culture, including the forthcoming edited book collection Writing the Australian Beach: local site, global idea (Palgrave Macmillan).
