Throughout all industry sectors, significant disruption is either already occurring or on the way. Technological advancements, changing funding models, changing customer/client expectations and increasingly competitive markets require new ways of thinking and working.  The CQU Noosa Institute has created this educational event to equip individuals and teams with the skills and knowledge they require to lead, manage and embrace disruptive innovation and change, no matter what position they hold in an organisation.

Participants will join industry experts, quality speakers and world-class academics to learn how to prepare themselves, their business and their employees for the age of disruption. Offering skills and tools that can be used immediately, participants at this workshop will learn how to:

  • Lead, manage and embrace change and disruptive innovation
  • Use new thinking to solve old problems
  • Understand yourself and others to lead, manage and influence change
  • Understand and use traditional marketing principles to succeed in a changing and disruptive business environment

Associate Vice-Chancellor (Sunshine Coast), CQUniversity

Dr Teressa Schmidt is CQUniversity’s Associate Vice-Chancellor for the Sunshine Coast region. She has worked in adult and vocational education for more than 20 years and has held a variety of teaching, academic and leadership positions in Vocational and Higher Education. Teressa is also an accredited DISC profiler and has used these skills, along with her extensive leadership experience, to navigate individuals and teams to success.

From bringing back the KFC bucket, launching Naked Ginger to organising newspaper distribution during a cyclone, Mark Stanley has pretty much managed all facets of marketing. Mark is currently the TAFE Marketing Manager for CQUniversity and a casual academic, lecturing in Marketing. Previously he led the marketing and distribution functions for Newscorp in Far North Queensland where he solved distribution challenges and reinvigorated ailing brands. This time in the media gave him a keen insight into content creation which he has adapted into his marketing communications. He has worked with Buderim Ginger and International Paper where he developed new product development process and implemented strategies that drove product sales and margin growth.

What Mark enjoys most is joining great brands and working with the team to realise market potential and commercial goals. Mark’s educational background includes a Master of Business, Bachelor of Business and Diploma of Export Management.

Social Innovation Program Manager, CQUniversity

Steve has recently joined CQUniversity as the Social Innovation Program Manager. He has spent the last ten years specialising in developing entrepreneurial and innovative ways of addressing social problems.

At Marist180 he designed Australia’s first Homelessness Hackathon and brought the Techfugees Hackathon to Brisbane with partners across the tech, corporate, academic, and non-profit sectors. In 2016, his team was awarded the One to Watch award at the Australian Social Enterprise awards for the scalability of M180 Painting Services, a social enterprise developed to create employment for young unemployed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. In Steve’s role as Social Enterprise Director at Sandbag Inc, he led SEED PPM to be awarded small Australian Social Enterprise of the Year 2014. Furthermore, along with colleagues in the sector, Steve is co-founder of the Queensland Social Enterprise Council which he was inaugural Chair and current Vice-Chair. Currently, Steve is a contributing author to Generation Next: Becoming Socially Enterprising, published by Oxford University Press.

Michael Doneman,
GradDipTeaching, SFHEA, Innovator in Residence, Comlink Limited

Michael is founding director of Edgeware Creative Entrepreneurship. He has a background in education and community cultural development which inspired work in business design, vocational education and training, and information technology. He is Innovator in Residence at Comlink Ltd, and from 2014 he has chaired the Board of the Old Ambulance Station on the Sunshine Coast.

Along with his partner, Ludmila Doneman, Michael founded the Edgeware model of ethical entrepreneurship development in 2006, grounded in substantial experience with Indigenous Australian businesses and international groups such as Denmark’s Kaos Pilots. He has a coaching practice focused on the generic value of creativity in the growth of entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and leaders.
