At CQUniversity, we are committed to initiating and participating in cross-sectorial dialogue about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We do this through active participation in local, national and global conferences involving government and non-governmental organisations. In addition to this, our researchers, academics and staff collaborate in international research projects and learning initiatives that address the SDGs.

Participation in Conferences aligned to SDGs
We purposefully and actively participate in conferences and events aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) throughout the year to have an open and robust dialogue addressing SDGs with our communities and stakeholders.
Our researchers and academics present their research efforts and projects at conferences locally, nationally and internationally.

2019 CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS
- Professor John Rolfe was invited to present as a Keynote Speaker at the Annual China Agricultural Economic Review (CAER) at the China Agricultural University and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)Conference held in China.
- Professor Kerry Walsh was invited ato present as a Keynote speaker at the Frutic 2019 - Innovations in Pre- and Postharvest Supply Chain of Fresh Produce, held in Honk Kong on 4 September 2019. The presentation was titled Taking the packhouse into the field - Experiences with in-field fruit sizing, counting and quality evaluation.
2019 CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS
- Corneel Vandelanotte was invited to speak at the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions in Auckland, New Zealand, from 12-15 February 2019. The papers were titled The effectiveness of a web-based computer-tailored physical activity intervention using Fitbit activity trackers: a reandomised trial, and the second paper presented was titled A real-world evaluation of engagement with web-based physical activity interventions across two trial designs.
- Professor Drew Dawson, Professor Greg Roach attended the 24th International Symposium on Shiftwork & Working Time in Idaho, USA. The paper presented was titled Model-driven estimates of police officer's sleepiness. A second paper presented was titled The impact of different daytime sleep strategies on sleep duration during a week of simpulated night work; and a third paper presented was titled Daylight light exposure affects circadian adaptation to a week of night shifts. Professor Sally Ferguson, Dr Grace Vincent and Dr Charli Sargent also attended this conference.

1st International Eurasian Congress of Social Pediatrics attended the 17th International Conference on Gambling & Risk Taking in Las Vegas, USA. Professor Browne's presentation it titled Gambling-related Harm and the Prevention Paradox. Professor Rockloff's paper was titled Do Gambling Products Provide Positive Net Utility to Consumers. The Conference Program provides further details on the papers presented. - Professor Drew Dawson was invited to present as a Keynote Speaker at the 33rd annual meeting of the Society of Associated Professional Sleep Societies in San Antonio, UAS, from 9 - 12 June 2019.
- Associate Professor Anjum Naweed presented at the 5th World Bi-Annual Congress in Rail Training (WCRT) held inRabat, Morroco, from 9-11 October, 2019. The paper was titled Goldilocks on a train: Key learnings for reducing sedentary behaviour in complex work environment.
- Professor Drew Dawson was invited to present as a Keynote Speaker at the 33rd annual meeting of the Society of Associated Professional Sleep Societies in San Antonio, UAS, from 9 - 12 June 2019.
- Professor Nerilee Hing and Dr Amy Reynolds presented at the the 6th International Conference on Behavioral Addictions held in Yokohama, Japan from 17-19 June 2019. The following paper was presented by Professor Hing, Avoiding harmful gambling: An evidence-based set of safe gambling practices for consumers. Further details can be found in the Conference Program.
- Professor Anthony Schnieder presented at the 3rd World Congress of Sports Physical Therapy held in Vancourver, Canada from 4-5 October 2019. The paper presented was titled The athletes brain: neuroplasticity in rehabilitation and concussion update.
- Professor Jenni Judd presented at the 23rd World Conference on Health Promotion held in Rotorua, New Zealand from 7-11 April 2019. The paper was titled Tips for writing and reviewing for peer-reviewed health promotion journals: A practical guide.
- Professor Tania Signal presented at the Decolonizing Animals Australasian Animal Studies Conference 2019, held in Christchurch, New Zealand from 1-4 July 2019. The paper was titled It's more than just a link for Australian verterinarians:Readiness to, and personal impact of, responding to deliberate animal harm.

- Associate Professor Michael Segon presented at the International Conference Leadership and Management in Higher Education: Driving Change with Global Trends, in Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam, from 4-5 July 2019. The title of the paper What Employees want from MBA Graduates: Do Universities Provide Them.
- Associate Professor Teresa Schmidt presented a paper at the International Vocational Education and Training Conference in the UK from 28-30 Jun, 2019Associate Professor Schmidts paper was titled Is the whole more than the sum of it's parts? Interrogating the reductionist approach to find new ways of conceptualising 'good' VET teaching.

- Professor Judith Brown attended to the Australian & New Zealand Associate for Research in Music Education in Welliington, New Zealand from 31 October to 3 November 2019.

- Professor Peter Wolfs presented at the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting (IAS 2019), held in Baltimore held from 29 September - 02 October 2019. The paper was titled Multi-port converter with improved modulation and control strategies for PV and energy storage systems.
- Professor Peter Wolfs presented at the 29th Australiasian Universities Power Engineering in Fiji, from 26-29 November, 2019. The paper was titled Distributed motor current signature analysis in an lo T environment.
2019 CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS
- Professor Colin Cole and Professor Steven Moore presented papers at the IHHA2019 - International Heavy Haul Association Conference, held at The Artic University of Norway in Narvik, Norway, from 10-14th June, 2019. Two papers were presented by Professor Cole and were titled Innovative sensor-node hardware architecture for on-board heavy haul wagon monitoring, and An Adaptive train monitorin system using internet of Things. Professor Moore's paper was titled Track inspections using drones and machine vision.
- Professor Mohammad Rasul presented two papers at the 6th International Conference on Energy and Environment Research (ICEER 2019) held at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, from 22-25 July, 2019. The papers were titled Team teaching approaches: How to manage student learning in multicampus setting and Performance of students' choice team versus teacher/facilitator's created team in project-based learning (PBL) units.
- Professor Mohammad Rasul presented a paper at the IEEE 2nd International Conference on Renewable Energy and Power Engineering (REPE 2019) held in Toronto, Canada on 2-4 November 2019. The paper was titled Combustion characteristics of an aggricultural diesel engine fuelled with papaya and stone fruit biodiesel: A comparison, a second paper presented was titled A comparison study of engine performance and emission characteristics of biodiesels produced from the waste seeds of papaya and stone fruit.
- Professor Maksym Spiryagin presented at the 26th IAVSD International Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks held at Ostersund, Sweden, from 9-11 August 2019. The paper was titled Simulation of track-locomotive interactions in the longitudinal direction.
- Professor Brijesh Verma presented two papers at the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation inheld in Wellington, New Zealand, from 10-13 June 2019. The paper was titled Evolving One-Dimensional Deep Convolutional Neural Network: A Swarm based Approach and the second paper presented was titled Ensemble Classifier Optimisation by Reducing Input Features and Base Classifiers.
- Dr Ritesh Chugh attended the 11th International Conference on Knowledge Management and Information Systems held in Vienna, Australia from 17-19 September 2020. The paper presented was titled Tacit knowledge transfer: Information technology usage in universities.
- Professor Brijesh Verma presented at the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks held from 14 -19 July 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. The papers were titled Mulit-receptive atrous convolutional network for semantic segmentation and A non-iterative radial basis function based quick convolutional neural network.
- Dr Natasha Steenkamp presented at the 9th Asia-Pacific Interdisciplinary Research in Accounting Conference held in Auckland, New Zealand from 1-3 July 2019. The paper presented was titled South Africa is leading the way and it is not cricket.
- Dr Lisa Soon presented a paper at the European Conference on Knowledge Management held in Lisbon Portugal from 5-6 September 2019. The paper presented was titled The use of export trading knowledge.
- Professor Brijesh Verma presented 3 papers at the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN) 2019, held in Hungary from 14 - 19 July 2019. The papers were titled Optiaml clusters generation for maximising ensemble classifier performance, Mulit-receptive atrous convolutional newtowrk for samantic segmentation and A non-iterative redial basis function based quick convolutional neural network.

- Associate Professor Henrietta Marrie was invited to speak in New York, USA, at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues Panel held from 22 April to 3 May 2019.
- Professor Roxanne Bainbridge attended the Rhodes Healthcare Forum in Oxford, London, from 9-10 February, 2019. Professor Bainbridge participated on a panel of experts discussing Indigenous Health in New Zlealand, Australia and Canada.
- Professor Roxanne Bainbridge presented at the 19th International Conference on Integrated Care held in Spain from 1-3 April 2019. The paper presented was titled The use and satisfaction with healthcare.

- Pofessor Owen Nevin presented at the World Industrial Biotechnology Convention 2019, held in Philadelphia, United States, from 08 - 11 July 2019.
- Dr Amy Cosby, Professor Bobby Harreveld and Associate Professor Mark Trotter presented at the Agricultural Education and Extension tuned on innovation for sustainability, in Italy from 18-21 June, 2019. The paper was titled GPS Cows: an interactive digital technology exchange with high school teachers.

2019 INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH PROJECTS
- Professor Phil Brown was the Project Lead on the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research Project HORT/2014/080 titled “Integrating protected cropping systems into high-value vegetable value chains in the Pacific and Australia”.
- Professor Dave Swain, in collaboration with the National Agricultural Technology Institute of Argentina(INTA) in “Advancing Precision Livestock Technologies for Commercial Release in Argentina” via DataMuster.
- Associate Professor Mark Trotter was the Project Lead on implementing a trial funded by the Australian and New Zealand Government using Satellite Based Augmentation System of global positioning technology for stock monitoring.
2019 INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS
- GPS Cows Project: CQUniversity staff working in collaboration with Oregon State University and the University of Maine in the USA to increase digital literacy in the agricultural industry.
2019 COOPERATIVE RESEARCH CENTRE ACTIVITIES
- CQUniversity is one of a number of Australian universities participating in the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre. Professor David Pearson, Professor of Marketing at CQUniversity is the Engage Program Leader in the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre.
