Life as a university student can be rewarding and challenging at the same time.
As a student at CQUniversity there are a range of support services available to help you reach your academic goals, enjoy your time at university and assist you to grow professionally and personally. Whether you need to find accommodation, advice on your career options, support for your personal wellbeing or are keen to participate in social and sporting activities, CQUniversity is here for you.
There are academic learning support options available to you at CQUniversity. The Communications Learning Centre (CLC) provides individual assistance to improve your written and oral communication skills and the Mathematics Learning Centre (MLC) is available for those who need assistance with the mathematical or statistical components of your courses.
CQUniversity library offers a range of collaborative and innovative information services to students regardless of location or study mode. Across our regional campuses there are more than 260 000 books, software items and videos for loan. An online catalogue is available on the library website along with access to a number of online databases, e-journals and course resources. CQUniversity bookshops stock a range of textbooks, stationery, computer software, and equipment such as
stethoscopes and labcoats, all available at student prices.

The CQUniversity Careers and Employment Service, operated by the Student Support Centre, offer a range
of resources and guidance to assist you and your career search, program choices and the employment process.
Services include career planning assistance with finding work placements which are compulsory in your program of study, career assessment tools, weekly scheduled career drop-in sessions, employment preparation workshops, access to validated information on potential employers for graduate employment and casual, part-time and vacation work experience including internships. There is also an annual Student Careers Fair held in Rockhampton.

CQUniversity’s personal support encompasses personal counselling, non-academic study assistance and pastoral care. Confidential personal counselling is available free of charge, either on-campus or by phone. You can gain assistance with things such as time management, motivation and goal setting. Distance education students can engage with other students in their program areas by the Distance Education Forum. A chaplaincy service can put you in touch with local churches and faith communities. There are a number of technical facilities available to students on-campus, such as free 24 hour computer facilities, including Internet access with secure entry. CQUniversity Roam – a free wireless network access is also available across most campuses.
Indigenous students can access a range of services provided by Nulloo Yumbah - CQUniversity's Indigenous Learning, Spirituality and Research Centre. Nulloo Yumbah staff act as champions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) future students by promoting alternative entries through recognition of prior learning, promoting the ‘Tertiary Entry Program’ (TEP), designing and delivering modules, courses and programs to increase knowledge and appreciation of ATSI issues and indigenous Australian spirituality, such as indigenous ways of learning and contemporary indigenous issues and ensuring equitable access to quality student tutorial assistance through the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS).
If you have a disability or medical condition that may affect your study, CQUniversity provides access to a range of resources and support to enhance your academic potential. You are invited to register with the Disability Service to discuss your individual support needs. The Disability Service assists those with disabilities to develop a support plan including access to assistive technologies (on-campus), exam accommodations and reasonable adjustments to ensure equitable access and learning opportunities. CQUniversity’s Student Association supports the interests of the student population. Membership is voluntary and provides a range of services, this includes provision of wall planners, printing and binding, second-hand textbooks and advocacy support. CQUniversity provides peer support for you to work your way through your first year. The Student Mentor and Leadership program connects new students with student mentors to help you feel at home at CQUniversity. Mentors are experienced students who can assist with finding the answers to questions you have and guide you through your first year at university.
There are many opportunities for you to be involved in sporting activities across the campuses, for example, you can represent the University at regional, national and international sporting competitions. The CQUniversity Community Sports Centre is available at the Rockhampton campus and student membership prices are available to use the pool, gymnasium, exercise classes and more.
