How to Apply

You are considered a non-Year 12 applicant if you are:

• studying an overseas Year 12 qualification, NCEA in New Zealand; or
• already studying at a tertiary institution and want to apply for a program at another institution; or
• using alternative entry qualifications to be considered for tertiary entrance, current TAFE student; or
• completing senior external examination subjects or Certificate IV in Adult Tertiary Preparation; or
• completed Year 12 in any year other than the current year.

All non-Year 12 applicants apply through QTAC selecting the Apply By Web (ABW) option.

Domestic Students Studying at Sydney or Melbourne Campuses

Domestic students enrolling at our range of programs available at our Sydney Campus will need to apply directly to CQUniversity for enrolments for Semester 3 2011, and through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) for Semesters 1 & 2 in 2012.

New Zealand Students

If you have completed the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) level three in New Zealand are eligible to apply for a tertiary place through QTAC. You must apply through the Apply By Web (ABW) application service. A common measure is used to determine Year 12 student achievement, which is provided by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) to QTAC.

Entry Requirements

You will need to ensure that you meet the entry requirements for your chosen program, which is traditionally a combination of prerequisite studies that you will complete during your senior schooling and an Overall Position (OP) score. To be a successful university student it is not essential for you to have completed Year 12 or any other formal academic qualifications. There are numerous options you can consider when contemplating applying to a tertiary institution. In fact, QTAC offers an Assessment of Qualifications Service* that will assist you in determining whether you are likely to qualify for entry into university or what you would need to do in order to successfully apply.
