CQUniversity is introducing a new suite of professional practice allied health programs to boost the supply of practitioners in the central Queensland region. In the areas of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry and speech pathology the region is well below the state and national averages of therapists per capita, providing graduates with career opportunities both within the region and beyond.
Central to the entire suite of allied health programs, along with the new oral health program, is the development of an integrated health clinic in Rockhampton which will provide you with an unparalleled opportunity to blend real-life clinical experience with contemporary best practice theoretical education. In your final year you will follow case-based learning specifically linked to your clinical activity in the integrated health clinic.
Health Science (Allied Health) provides a foundation learning opportunity leading to graduates with skills, knowledge and experience necessary to fill emerging health workforce roles and reflects the new direction of the national agenda on education, health and employment.
Immediate employment opportunities will revolve around the role of an Allied Health Assistant. You will also be able to engage in employment in health promotion, public health, health research as well as potentially use your qualification as a pathway into health professional practice programs such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry and speech pathology currently being developed by CQUniversity.
