Drama

At CQUniversity we have a firm conviction that training in the craft of acting involves the acquisition of core qualities in voice and movement as part of the development of primary acting skills. In addition to encouraging vocal and physical flexibility, the program provides you with opportunities to explore and develop your imagination and performance skills through a wide variety of theatre productions. The specialisation includes classes in acting to cover a broad range of acting styles and genres for both stage and screen; the development of professional audition technique; technical theatre studies including stage management, lighting and sound design, scenic stage design and directing; academic studies in the history of western theatre and dramatic literature; history of western art music and popular music of the 20th century; introduction to music theory and the development of aural musicianship skills.

Significant performance opportunities exist as part of the program including several theatre productions each year and performances as part of community outreach initiatives within the Central Queensland region. International exchange opportunities are also available in the USA and Europe. We continue to investigate and build partnerships with theatre training providers and theatre companies throughout the world and especially throughout the Asia-Pacific rim.
