CQUniversity Australia’s Bachelor of Theatre (specialisation) is designed to provide specialist training in drama, music theatre or technical theatre. The new specialisation, technical theatre has been developed for those who are keen to work in the creative and performing arts in a production capacity.
Within a creative and supportive environment of hands on performance based training, you have the opportunity to work in a significant number of full scale productions in technical and creative roles, providing an insight into all aspects of the theatre industry. This will equip you for the workplace as a highly skilled, highly motivated and creative performer. The program is designed to develop advanced skills in problem solving and creative, self-regulated and critical thinking within a team based environment, nurture and enhance skills in singing/voice, acting and dance/movement, and explore and develop imagination and performance techniques and styles. You will also develop skills in production related areas such as lighting, sound and stage management. All skills are contextualised by studies in dramatic literature, theatre history and drama theory. The program has a carefully designed and integrated course structure enriching your learning experience.
Drama offers extensive studies in training in the craft of acting and acquiring skills in voice and movement.
Music theatre has a strong practical focus and offers intensive technical training in singing, dancing and acting to develop a professionally acknowledged ‘triple threat’ performer.
Technical theatre is designed to develop student skills in stagecraft, stage and production management, lighting, sound and technical direction.

The Bachelor of Theatre (Specialisation) is designed for students seeking a profession in the entertainment industry as an actor, musical theatre performer or as part of the theatre production team. The program includes opportunities to gain the professional skills necessary for a performing arts industry career as a performer, director, designer, theatre technician or theatre manager. The degree also provides excellent pathways for careers in education, creative industries and arts administration.
