CQUniversity's Bachelor of Theatre (Honours) allows you to extend your knowledge in a specific area of the music and theatre industry and prepares you to enhance your career prospects or move successfully into postgraduate research. The program is designed to enable you to explore and develop practical skills and techniques in the areas of independent learning, analytical thinking, research and communication via project-based learning. You will be exposed to study areas, including performance and production studies, theatre studies, the language of modern music, as well as a range of musical genres including ballet, tap, jazz, music theatre and drama.

Music and theatre is an important feature of the cultural life of Australians. With the growing demand for performing arts in the 21st century, the industry requires highly skilled and trained individuals to not only take centre stage as performers but also for careers working behind the scenes and educating our future talent. Regardless of your particular talent or passion, music and theatre offers a number of professional careers including musician, recording or sound engineer, performing or recording artist, composer, actor or musical theatre performer, director, designer, theatre technician or theatre manager, arts administration or educator.

This program is open to you if you have completed an undergraduate theatre degree from a recognised higher education institution and who have achieved at least a credit average (grade point average of at least 5.5) in the discipline area in which you intend to study for Honours.

You are required to complete 48 units of credit. This is comprised of 24 units of credit (or equivalent, based on assessment) in coursework and 24 units of credit in dissertation.
