Bachelor of Music (Honours)

CQUniversity's Bachelor of Music (Honours) allows you to extend your knowledge in a specific area of music performance. This program enables you to enhance your career prospects or prepares you to move successfully into postgraduate research.  The program is designed to enable you to explore and develop practical skills and techniques and build skills in the areas of independent learning, analytical thinking, research and communication in your area of interest via project-based learning. You will be exposed to study areas such as:

  • Music Performance (jazz, contemporary popular music and classical) - practical training in performance techniques.
  • Composition and Arrangement – the development of original music and preparing and adapting musical pieces.
  • Musicology – the study of music theory in historical, cultural and social contexts.  
  • Music Technology - relevant theoretical and practical knowledge of the latest advances in music technology with scope for specialisation and the development of professional skills as used throughout the industry.

What am I studying?

Program Structure

You are required to complete 48 units of credit. This is comprised of 24 units of credit (or equivalent, based on assessment) in coursework and 24 units of credit in a dissertation.
