Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration

The Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration is designed to prepare you for managerial positions in the arts and associated industries.  It is ideal if you are working in a leadership role or position. This program will provide you with the opportunity to develop your presentation skills and portfolio to enhance your employment opportunities in a chosen creative industry with a solid reference base for critical and reflective thinking appropriate to assuming an administrative role with responsibility.

This program introduces you to the application of critical thinking, the formulation of visual and written presentations, and the development of creative arts portfolios.  The program will also prepare you for work in the creative arts and to undertake a higher academic level degree.

What am I studying?

The Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration will introduce you to the application of critical thinking, the formulation of visual and written presentations, and the development of creative arts portfolios.  The program is designed to develop the presentation and portfolio skills to enable you to gain employment in a chosen creative industry with a solid reference base for critical and reflective thinking appropriate to assuming an administrative role with responsibility.  The Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration provides an excellent introduction to academic thinking and the level of work required to undertake a Masters degree as well as to the scope of the creative industries and the type of work involved. Classes are held on-campus at CQUniversity Sydney and the tuition is individualised to permit students to focus on a preferred creative industry.

The Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration prepares you to work in the creative arts.  Essentially, the Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration provides an entry pathway into the Master of Creative Enterprise (Arts Administration) for students who possess relevant work experience but are not eligible for direct entry into the Master degree. 

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, you must have completed a bachelor degree (or an equivalent qualification) or have satisfied the Dean (or nominee), School of Education and the Arts, of your competence to undertake the program on the basis of an equivalent qualification.  For example, equivalence may be determined by a combination of: 

• an academic record in a diploma or certificate award of appropriate content standards;
• published or unpublished material of appropriate content and standard; and
• non-award professional development activities and/or work experience.

Program Structure

You must complete three core courses (24 units of credit) in critical thinking in creative industries, creative arts portfolio and presentation skills in creative industries.
