Bachelor of Podiatry Practice

The Bachelor of Podiatry Practice at CQUniversity is a four year program designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to practice as a Podiatrist. Podiatrists are health professionals who deal with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.

You will study topics in health sciences including anatomy, physiology, microbiology and psychology, as well as specialised courses specific to podiatry including gerontology, paediatrics, biomechanics, musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, pharmacology and surgery. The first year of the program provides foundational health sciences knowledge and skills, with the podiatry-specific courses following in the remaining years.

You will have opportunity to integrate theory with practice and complete 1000 hours of internal and external clinical placement throughout the program.

What am I studying?

Podiatrists are concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders, injuries and conditions linked with the feet and lower limb such as diabetes. The complexities involved with the genetic makeup of the feet require professional expertise. Podiatrists can work in a variety of health care settings including public and private practice, community health organisations, fitness centres and aged care facilities.

Why Study Allied Health at CQUniversity

Practical learning experiences are central to program and students will complete in-practice placements where they will be part of a multi-disciplinary team in the new on-campus Allied Health clinic, being developed at CQUniversity Rockhampton.

English Requirements

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA you are required to meet the English Language Prerequisite by:

An academic IELTS completed within the last 2 years (from the term you are applying to start) with a minimum achievement of 7.0 in each band and overall or a secondary or university qualification which is not more than 5 years old (from the term you are applying for entry into) with a satisfactory level of achievement of at least 2 years in duration from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA.

The English Language Proficiency requirements may also be satisfied by (results are to be no older than 2 years from the start of term):

- Occupational test: Result of 'A' or 'B'

Career Opportunities

Podiatrists can work across diverse settings in both rural and urban areas including hospitals; multidisciplinary health clinics, community health centres, private practice, as well as in research and development.

Work Intergrated Learning

There are 1000 hours of internal and external clinical placement throughout the program.
