The Master of Health Promotion is offered by CQUniversity in recognition of the increasing role of health promotion practitioners in alleviating and preventing health problems and in promoting the wellbeing of individuals, communities and nations. This program develops advanced skills and knowledge of health promotion practice for those who wish to further their career opportunities.

The aim of the Masters of Health Promotion is to prepare professionals working in health promotion industry and services with advanced skills and knowledge in health promotion. The program has been built in recognition of the increasing role of health promotion practitioners in alleviating and preventing health problems and in promoting the wellbeing of individuals, communities and nations.
Students will gain an understanding of the impact of social, emotional, physical, political, economic and historical factors that determine health, gaining comprehensive information to deliver a community needs assessment. You will also develop project management skills in building partnerships, collaboration, leadership and teamwork, as well as an understanding of ethical considerations both within health promotion projects and in research projects. As a part of the program, students are required to complete a reseach project that contributes to knowledge and/or practice of health promotion.
The program is offered by distance education and you are supported by online resources and access to help and guidance offered by CQUniversity. Program flexibility also extends to the option of an early exit at a graduate diploma level.
Must be employed for 2 years in the field of health promotion or related area and hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Must be employed on at least a part time basis in the health promotion field and have agreed support from employer. If you have completed relevant postgraduate courses you can apply for recognition of prior learning. These applications will be considered on an individual basis.
On completion of the Masters of Health Promotion, you will be qualified to take a leading position within the health promotion industry such as health promotion professional or senior project officer.
You are required to complete nine core courses to be awarded the Master of Health Promotion. Exit is available after completing six core courses to be awarded the Graduate Diploma of Health Promotion. This program utilises all three university terms and you should undertake one course per term.
