Rail safety management is concerned with managing the safety of workers and passengers in the rail industry. Rail safety managers are safety leaders within the organisation and are responsible for promoting safety throughout the workforce, developing and implementing safety initiatives and advocating for change with upper management. These activities are based on a thorough understanding of organisational risks and hazards, current safety management strategies, the particular culture of groups within the organisation and the relevant safety procedures, regulations and legislation.
