Do you enjoy solving problems, and we don’t just mean mathematics? Are you curious about how things work? If you would like to be at the cutting edge of scientific and technological advancements, then becoming an engineering technologist will provide a challenging career where you can utilise these abilities and interests and turn ideas into reality.
As an engineering technologist you can focus on applications and interactions within systems. Technologists combine a sound engineering understanding with modern technology to be innovative by applying, modifying and adapting engineering practices in meeting the world’s challenges and problems for communities, society and the environment in general.
Engineering technologists are typically involved with work such as the planning, implementing and maintenance of engineering projects under the direction of an engineer. Engineering technologists can specialise in a number of fields including civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. An engineering technologist focuses on the development and implementation of technology for use in the field of engineering. Engineering technologists focus on the use of technology in product development, manufacturing, construction, and engineering operational functions.
CQUniversity offers degrees in engineering, mining and technology to suit a range of different career needs. Whether you are from a trades/technical background seeking to advance your skills, someone looking to commence a career as a professional engineer or an industry professional in search of further education or research opportunities, our programs allow you the flexibility to choose from key industry areas including aviation, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, mining and geoscience, maintenance management, railway signalling and operations, and power generation.
CQUniversity’s engineering and technology programs incorporate project-based learning in which you will undertake real-life engineering tasks, allowing you to put your theoretical knowledge into practice. Through this innovative approach to learning, you’ll be able to combine the technical skills you acquire during your study with teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills; skills required for today’s workforce.
CQUniversity’s engineering, mining and technology programs have been developed in consultation with key stakeholders in the sector. In order to meet the demands of industry, we have formed strong partnerships with leading private companies and public organisations that offer support through scholarships and work placements. These partnerships give you the opportunity to learn directly from leaders in the field, including access to guest lecturers from staff at John Holland in our undergraduate engineering programs. Through these professional networks you may be able to gain employment before you graduate by developing business relationships during your studies.
