Associate Degree of Mine Operations Management (Specialisation)

Strong growth in the minerals industry has created the need for people with the technical skills to develop and operate mines in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner. CQUniversity’s Associate Degree of Mine Operations Management provides the generic and technical mine operations management knowledge and skills to prepare you to meet the targets and responsibilities of mine operations.

The program aims to provide an integrated educational pathway into underground or surface coal mine management and incorporates university engineering management, safety and science courses and, dependent on specialisation, statutory black coal competencies to ensure you are work ready upon graduation.

Program Structure

You are required to complete a total of 12 courses including three core courses and nine courses from either the Underground or Surface specialisations. You are also required to complete the imbedded black coal competencies throughout the duration of the program.

Dependant on courses selected, compulsory attendance is required.

Professional Recognition

For students studying the underground specialisation, the university courses plus the black coal competencies in this program are aimed to meet the educational prerequisites to be eligible to sit for the examination of the Board of Examiners for the First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Underground Coal Mines, Queensland).

For students studying the surface specialisation, the black coal competencies in this program are aimed to assist site senior executives in ensuring mines have people with appropriate competencies to manage mines safely and efficiently.
