Master of Maintenance Management

The Master of Maintenance Management is designed for those wishing to continue study and develop the skills required to conduct applied industry-based research of real-world problems, following the completion of the graduate diploma program. The Master of Maintenance Management focuses the previous learning and experience towards creation of opportunities to improve maintenance management practices. The masters program requires you to investigate and resolve a significant real-world issue affecting the maintenance of an organisation.

The program allows you to personalise your learning to suit your individual needs and areas of interest with your choice of research project.  The research project will incorporate an in-depth investigation of a maintenance-related workplace issue, providing a solution, or as minimum, recommendations for improvement.  It requires you to engage in the analysis, reflection and critique of an organisational problem related to professional practice.

What am I studying?

Maintenance Engineering will provide you with an overview and introduction to asset management and maintenance engineering within an industrial organisation, including, business-centred maintenance, systems view of maintenance, models of maintenance, maintenance financial analysis, reliability-centred maintenance, failure analysis/criticality/root cause analysis, maintenance analysis techniques and maintenance and the environment.

Specifically designed for the professional development of current employees, postgraduate maintenance management produces graduates who can understand and apply maintenance philosophies, strategies and processes and ensures they gain the practical knowledge of latest maintenance management tools for effective decision making, strategy development, and maximisation of assets and minimisation of costs, in line with organisational goals.

Entry Requirements

  • Current employment in maintenance engineering/maintenance management
  • A CQUniversity Graduate Diploma in Maintenance Management, or equivalent.

Entry to the masters program requires satisfactory completion of a Graduate Diploma of Maintenance Management with a grade point average (GPA) of five or above.

Potential students must provide evidence of a suitable masters project area that is supported by their employer organisation. Entry is subject to the availability of a suitable supervisor in the particular research area. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Program Structure

To be awarded the Master of Maintenance Management you are required to complete a total of eight courses, which are completed in the graduate certificate and graduate diploma programs, plus a one-year research project.
