Graduate Diploma of Maintenance Management

The Graduate Diploma of Maintenance Management is suited to those currently employed in the areas of maintenance engineering or maintenance management, who wish to advance their careers through professional upgrading of their knowledge, skills and qualifications.  This qualification is highly regarded by industry as reflected by the increasing requirement for maintenance engineering/maintenance management qualifications in the selection criteria for many vacancies in the maintenance management field.

The Graduate Diploma of Maintenance Management program requires completion of four courses in addition to the four courses in the graduate certificate. This program will build on the knowledge gained in the Graduate Certificate in Maintenance Management to develop your skills required to provide leadership and continuous improvement in the industrial maintenance organisation.

What am I studying?

Maintenance Engineering will provide you with an overview and introduction to asset management and maintenance engineering within an industrial organisation, including, business-centred maintenance, systems view of maintenance, models of maintenance, maintenance financial analysis, reliability-centred maintenance, failure analysis/criticality/root cause analysis, maintenance analysis techniques and maintenance and the environment.

Specifically designed for the professional development of current employees, postgraduate maintenance management produces graduates who can understand and apply maintenance philosophies, strategies and processes and ensures they gain the practical knowledge of latest maintenance management tools for effective decision making, strategy development, and maximisation of assets and minimisation of costs, in line with organisational goals.

Entry Requirements

You are required to have current employment in maintenance engineering/maintenance management, plus either:

  •  a CQUniversity Graduate Certificate in Maintenance Management, or equivalent;

or

  • an associate diploma or degree in engineering, technology or applied science; with a minimum of 12 months relevant maintenance management experience; or a minimum of three years relevant experience in maintenance engineering.

Program Structure

You are required to complete a total of eight courses, four of which are completed in the Graduate Certificate of Maintenance Management.

You will study two compulsory courses including Maintenance Leadership and Auditing Maintenance System and your choice of a further two courses from Maintenance Materials Management, Turnaround Management or Advanced Condition Monitoring.

Maintenance Leadership

Focuses on leadership theory and practice appropriate to current and future maintenance practice and explores the techniques for advancing leadership. Auditing Maintenance Systemwill enable you to develop an understanding of audit methodology focused towards the improvement of industrial asset management and maintenance systems.

Advanced Condition Monitoring

Focuses on condition monitoring as a preventive maintenance strategy. The course covers a range of condition-based maintenance techniques, including condition-based maintenance, selection of condition monitoring techniques, parameter symptom limits, oil analysis, thermal monitoring, corrosion identification and monitoring, vibration monitoring and analysis.

Turnaround Management

Covers the theoretical knowledge and technical skills required to perform turnaround events, using a systems approach to maintenance, including turnarounds from a business and engineering perspective and the phases,logistics, preparation and execution of turnaround.

Maintenance Materials Management

Course focuses on the materials supply function of asset maintenance management, including objectives of materials management, categorising materials, managing inventories, warehouse management, purchasing, technological solutions to materials management and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Specific courses under the Graduate Diploma of Maintenance Management have a residential school attached.  Dependant upon courses selected, compulsory attendance is required.
