Australia has an ageing population and it has been forecast that there will be a large skills shortage in the future. Education and training have been highlighted as one of the key criteria to assist in this potential skills shortfall. Currently in Queensland there are approximately 1500 training organisations and CQUniversity's Learning Design programs are aimed at upskilling and providing paraprofessionals for the training sector.
There are three study levels available from the learning design programs at CQUniversity they begin with the diploma, followed by the associate degree and then the completion of the bachelor. The bachelors degree will provide graduates with advanced knowledge of curriculum design within the VET sector. Both the diploma and associate degree will provide graduates with a solid knowledge base and often allow for promotion within the training and education sector. You can enrol at any level and have the flexibility to exit at the diploma and associate degree if enrolled in the higher program.
Applicants who possess a base trade qualification/paraprofessional training/qualification to AQF level three and can demonstrate substantial experience that shows the facilitation of the learning of others may be eligible to obtain advanced standing towards this program. Credit will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
You are required to complete 25 days of work placement in an appropriate setting.
To complete the Diploma of Learning Design you are required to complete a total of eight core courses (subjects). These courses are compulsory and comprise a total of 48 units of credit.
You may be required to attend a residential workshop on the Rockhampton Campus in Orientation Week in the year of commencement of study. Contact the Program Advisor for further details.
