You will be able to tailor your program to meet your career goals by way of a specialisation in the areas of Executive Leadership,Special Education, Early Childhood, Educational Multimedia, Simulation Technology and Learning, Middle Schooling, Professional Education or Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

This program provides an in-depth understanding of each specialisation and is ideal for those seeking a promotion, a career change or added responsibilities within their current career.
The Master of Education (Specialisation) has been designed with the busy professional in mind. Learning management is about preparing for the knowledge economy of the 21st century and developing skills and understanding of the issues that influence education in the global marketplace and the local environment. As a graduate of this program you are workplace ready and future oriented. The program is delivered by distance education with a choice in the area of specialisation. This flexibility provides the opportunity to develop and enhance skills and knowledge in a nominated area of specialisation or in a general area of interest
Registered three-year trained teachers wishing to undertake studies for four-year status are encouraged to complete this program.
To meet the entry requirements for this program, you must have one of the following:-
1) A 4 year undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution; or
2) A 3 year undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution plus recognised prior learning (RPL) involving continuous professional development as evidenced by at least one of:-
A masters qualifying period may be necessary for some students.
Registered three year trained teachers wishing to undertake studies for four-year status are encouraged to complete the Master of Education (Specialisation).
On completion of this program you may seek career advancement in learning and teaching environments and leadership positions within education/government departments.
Teachers who are seeking four year status are eligible to complete this program of study to attain this recongnition.
If you elect to study the Early Childhood specialisation you will undertake practicums in all three Professional Project courses.
If you elect to study the Teaching English to a Foreign Language specialisation you will be required to implement a lesson with second language learners as part of the course assessment.
To graduate with a Master of Education (Specialisation) you must complete five core coursework courses and two research courses in your area of specialisation (listed below) plus two postgraduate education electives.
Please note that in 2013, only the Early Childhood, Special Education and Executive Leadership specialisations will be available. Depending on interest, other specialisations may be available. In you are interested in another specialisation, please speak with a Program Advisor.
Special Conditions
As a graduate of the Master of Education (Simulation Technology and Learning) you will need need to demonstrate a clear focus on using simulation technology to design programs and activities for specific learning outcomes. You will be able to work closely with simulation developers to create simulation for specific learning purposes.
