The Graduate Certificate in Education (Specialisation) enables registered teachers to add an area of specialisation to their teaching portfolio and demonstrates knowledge, understanding and capacity in that area of specialisation.
If you are a teacher seeking four-year teacher status you must complete the Master of Education to attain this recognition.

‡ International students residing in Australia on a student visa must study full-time on-campus.
To be eligible for entry into the Graduate Certificate in Education (Specialisation), you must demonstrate the capacity to undertake the degree by meeting at least one of the following entrance criteria:
1) A 4 year undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution; or
2) A 3 year undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution plus recognised prior learning (RPL) invovling continuous professional development as evidenced by at least one of:-
Please note that completing a Graduate Certificate in Education (Specialisation) does not qualify for upgrading to forth-year status for three-year trained teachers seeking this upgrade. To achieve this upgrade it is recommended that you successfully complete CB93 Master of Education (Specialisation).
Upon successful completion of this program you may seek career advancement in learning and teaching environments and leadership positions within education/government departments.
If you elect to study the Early Childhood specialisation you will undertake practicums in all three Professional Project courses.
If you elect to study the Teaching English as a Foreign Language specialisation you will be required to implement a lesson with second language learners as part of the course assessment.To graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Education (Specialisation) you must complete four compulsory coursework courses (32 units of credit) in your area of specialisation.
