Bachelor of Professional Communication

CQUniversity's Bachelor of Professional Communication is a practice-oriented program that requires you to engage in real-world scenarios working with real-world clients. As such, our program can be challenging, but it is often fun along the way as well, and gives you real, tangible work experience.

Some of the benefits of studying at CQUniversity include smaller class sizes than most other universities, and a flexible program. On-campus classes are small enough to make learning personal, and off-campus classes are held in a virtual environment that brings students and teaching staff together to solve real problems. This program also allows you to choose to study on-campus or by distance education.

Another benefit of studying at CQUniversity is that we offer three study terms, and many courses within this program are offered year-round, which means you can complete your degree more quickly than at many other universities.

Why Study Communication at CQUniversity

CQUniversity’s Professional Communication program is practically-oriented and focuses on workplace relevance for future public relations and journalism practitioners. Our program provides a unique blend of public relations and journalism theory and practice, and requires you to complete core communication practice skills such as writing, speech, photography, and introductory graphic design, as well as specialist professional courses in each area.

This degree aims to produce graduates who can communicate effectively within an organisational environment, specifically within a corporate communication or public affairs context.  Public relations is fundamental to modern management practice.  It is as relative to community, non-profit, and government sectors, as it is to the corporate and private sector.  Organisations depend on public relations professionals to devise and implement strategies for effective creation and maintenance of an appropriate public profile, employee relations, reputation and crisis management.  This three-year degree is designed so that graduates will be able to write, analyse, research and evaluate results within a public relations context.  Our professional communication program also incorporates journalism courses and many of our graduates also find employment as journalists or media professionals.

Within this program you will study core public relations and communication subjects, and choose one area of specialisation in digital media production, marketing, human resources management or management, and are permitted to choose some elective courses from any program offered by the university.
