Bachelor of Laws

The Bachelor of Laws covers all areas of law required to satisfy professional accreditation and enables graduates to proceed to practice as a legal practitioner after completing the required professional training.

Our Bachelor of Laws is specifically designed for busy students who want maximum flexibility in their study of law as they manage jobs, family and other commitments. We teach our courses using Apple iPads, iTunesU, Moodle and Collaborate with an unwavering commitment to quality teaching.

We have a strong emphasis on developing legal drafting, advocacy and research skills together with a commitment to providing a solid legal education designed for legal practice. We use problem-based learning ensuring your education is both practical and work ready. Our research program supports our teaching and learning ensuring that our staff are familiar with current developments in the law and pass their knowledge onto our students. We engage with the community by putting our expertise online for all to see through iTunesU.

What am I studying?

A law degree will provide you with the qualifications to pursue a number of careers in the field of law, including solicitor, barrister, government legal officer, judicial officer, law academic, company director, in-house counsel, diplomat and politician. Our Bachelor of Laws program may also be undertaken by industry professionals looking to increase their knowledge of law within their own profession. Many law graduates work in areas directly related to the law, but also choose to work in occupations and industries where the knowledge and skills from a law degree are highly sought after and valued.

Program Structure

You are required to complete a total of 24 courses over a minimum of three years. There are 22 compulsory courses, and a choice of two electives from a specified list.

Professional Recognition

The Legal Practitioners Admission Board of Queensland has accredited our program. Upon graduation, you are also required to undertake a further period of practical legal training before being admitted as a legal practitioner.
