Graduate Diploma of Financial Management

The Graduate Diploma of Financial Management provides graduates with the knowledge and analytical skills to address the financial management and decision-making aspects of an organisation.  This program provides a particular career focus on financial market analysis, banking, investment houses, government departments and financial brokering.

The program can be completed in one year of full-time study, making it ideal if you are looking at a career change or promotion.  It is designed to suit graduates who are working predominantly in the making of financial decisions or who are charged with designing and incorporating systems which support the implementation of such decisions.

Throughout the program you will gain an understanding of the uses and limitations of accounting information, familiarity with basic economic and legal concepts essential for the middle to upper levels of management and an understanding of financing and investment.

You will study five compulsory courses including  Systems Management Overview, Economics for Business, Organisational Finance, Accounting Information for Decision Making and Financial Marketing Analysis.  You will also have the opportunity to choose one elective course from a range of business areas.

The Graduate Diploma is a pathway to the Master of Financial Management.

Entry Requirements

To gain entry to this program, you must have:

  • a bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college, or equivalent; or
  • a CQUniversity Graduate Certificate in Management, or equivalent.

You are required to complete 6 courses (48 unit points of credit) to graduate with the Graduate Diploma of Financial Management.
