Graduate Diploma of Property Valuation

Within the graduate diploma you will study five core courses, covering a range of property areas including property law, property valuation and statistics. You will also choose one elective subject from areas including finance, economics, real property built environment and sustainable populations.

The Graduate Diploma of Property Valuation is a pathway to the Master of Property Valuation, meaning that if you have completed the Graduate Diploma of Property Valuation you will only need to complete the additional courses to graduate with a Master of Property Valuation. Alternatively, if you enrol in a Master of Property Valuation you are able to exit with a Graduate Diploma of Property Valuation provided you have met the minimum standards.

Entry Requirements

To gain entry to this program, you must have:

  • A bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian University or college or equivalent; and/or
  • An Advanced Diploma in Property Valuation as approved by the Australian Property Institute, plus a minimum of five years work experience in property or property related employment.

If you have graduated from an Australian Property Institute (API) Certified Practicing Valuer (CPV) accredited program and have completed your study within the last 10 years you are not eligible for entry to this program.

Program Structure

To satisfy the requirements for the award, students must complete six courses (48 credit points) comprising:

  • 5 compulsory core courses
  • 1 elective chosen from those recommended.

Professional Recognition

As a graduate, you will be eligible to apply for registration as a property valuer and to apply to be admitted by the Australian Property Institute as an associate member (Certified Practising Valuer), subject to endorsement conditions.

Please note: registration with the Valuers Registration Board of Queensland is not automatic upon completion of either the Graduate Diploma of Property Valuation or the Master of Property Valuation.  When applying for registration you will need to satisfy the Board with written confirmation that your program together with your prior studies satisfies the knowledge field requirements for Associate Membership of the Australian Property Institute with CPV status.  You should make contact with the Australian Property Institute at your earliest opportunity to confirm that you will satisfy the required knowledge fields.
