Bachelor of Building Surveying and Certification

CQUniversity’s Bachelor of Building Design and Certification will qualify you to become a building surveyor and certify buildings of all classes in the residential and commercial sectors of an unlimited (multi-storey) size. You will be able to evaluate and assess plans, conduct inspections and issue building permits such as occupancy permits. Graduates of the program will be able to interpret building and construction regulations and advise clients of suitable industry practices.

Within this program you will study advanced courses including building legislation, building auditing, fire safety design and inspection procedures along with construction, building materials, services, professional practice and communication, and principles of sustainability.

Building surveyors and certifiers may perform tasks such as assess building plans to ensure they conform with to the relevant standards, carry out site inspections throughout the building process, issue building permits and compliance certificates, assess the condition of existing buildings and audit building to ensure they comply with industry standards and legislation.

Professional Recognition

This program is accredited by the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS). Successful completion of this award satisfies the educational requirements to be a building surveyor.
