Research degrees require you to undertake supervised research on a specific topic of interest. The choice of topic is varied. You can choose any area, provided the University confirms the topic is valid and we are able to provide suitable supervision and resources.
Your research will lead to the submission of a thesis which will be critically reviewed by an expert panel. This thesis must make a significant and original contribution to new knowledge. To assist in this, CQUniversity provides a range of exciting and relevant research opportunities for Masters and PhD candidates and is committed to excellence and quality in the research training experience of its candidates.

CQUniversity’s Enabling Programs are free programs that have been developed to help brighten your future through university study. No matter what your situation, there is a program for you. STEPS will provide you with the skills for tertiary entry and TEP is an innovative entry program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
CQUniversity’s Enabling Programs can help you return to study, get up-skilled, provide a pathway for a career change or help you get that promotion. No matter what your aspirations, CQUniversity has a program that can offer you an alternative pathway to achieving your goals and will give you the opportunity to gain the confidence, knowledge and skills required to successfully study at university.
Even if you do not meet the traditional QTAC requirements, have not studied for many years or didn’t finish high school, our enabling programs will allow you to study in a range of delivery modes to suit your lifestyle. To find out more about each program click on the links below.
SUN (Start Uni Now) provides Year 11 and 12 students an opportunity to get a head-start on their career by enrolling in university courses whilst still in high school. Students can undertake a range of introductory and specific CQUniversity courses, either online (externally) or face-to-face (internally), and combine them with their regular high school work.
Students can benefit from potential direct entry to the programs connected to these courses and can get a taste of university life and the subject area they are interested in.

CQUniversity’s English Language Centre provides classes for anyone who wants to learn English.
For beginners or people who speak some English and want to improve, the Language Centre has General English lessons. These classes run continuously and students can start at any time.
Those who want to improve their academic English skills can join one of our EAP courses. These classes focus on the writing and reading skills needed for university studies. Students are also taught how to research, reference and present university assignments and how to do classroom presentations.
The Language Centre is also the IELTS test centre for the region. People wanting to sit the exam can enrol here or online. In addition to running the exam, the Language Centre can assist candidates with tutoring and exam preparation.
For international students who want to come to Rockhampton to study, the Language Centre can organise homestay with a local family, airport pick ups and provide support while they become familiar with life in Australia.
The Language Centre also organises study tours for groups of international students. These tours can be tailor made to the group’s needs and can include themes like English for nursing, English for business and English for EFL teachers.
