This qualification addresses work in client homes and other community settings under regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans.
We also offer students a supportive learning environment with unique opportunities to develop the physical, mental and emotional skills required to work in this industry.
Individuals wishing to carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people in their own homes or in other community settings.
Examples of career paths include employment in residential aged care, community health, community care or home carer

All applicants are required to complete:
· An Application Form (available on the HealthTrain website)
· A simple literacy and numeracy assessment
· An interview (telephone or in-person)
Prior to commencing Vocational Placement you will need to complete a police check (you will need to provide 100 points ID including photo ID).
Duration: This course is up to 24 weeks duration depending upon your entry level. The course combines both classroom and Vocational Placement (work experience) hours.
Attendance at classes every Wednesday plus up to 120 hours of Vocational Placement is required. Additional support is provided online by your trainer who can assist outside of scheduled hours with assessment or other questions.
Requirements: To successfully complete this Cert III in Home and Community Care you must complete 14 units of competence and the required placement hours.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.
Individuals are encouraged to ring HealthTrain to discuss their potential for RPL for unit of competence within this qualification.
Assessment activities will be a combination of work in class, written assignments and practical activities.
The assessment for a number of units of competence links directly to the observation of an individual’s activities while on Vocational Placement.
Subsidised training is available to eligible individuals through the Victorian Government. You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, residing in Victoria and undertaking a course at a higher level than what you may currently hold. If you hold a degree or higher which is recognised in Australia you will be ineligible for VTG. You may be required to pay a co-contribution depending on the qualification you are undertaking.
The student tuition fees are indicative only and subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as student services and amenity fees.
