Applications for a 2013 Step into Teaching Scholarship are invited from individuals who:
· will undertake a Graduate Diploma in Education - Secondary (or equivalent) in the curriculum areas of Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics at a Queensland Higher Education Institution in 2013
· have achieved high academic results in their previous tertiary studies
· will be eligible for registration and employment as a teacher in Queensland for a minimum of two years from the commencement of Semester 1, 2014, and
· are an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia
Applications for a 2013 Step into Teaching Scholarship are invited from individuals who:
basis at a Queensland Higher Education Institution in 2013, in one or more of the curriculum areas of:
o Mathematics;o Chemistry; or o Physics.
Applicants should refer to the section above for further information about teaching locations and expectations about where scholarship recipients may be appointed.
The Department is not able to assess an individual’s eligibility to meet the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) requirements for teacher registration. For further information about registration, visit the QCT website at www.qct.edu.au.

Scholarship Application Process
Applicants must complete and submit a 2013 Step into Teaching Scholarship - Application Form with the following attachments:
If the scholarship applicant has already received an offer of a place in an appropriate study program for 2013, a copy of this letter should also be included with the application.
The 2013 Step into Teaching Scholarship - Application Form is available from the Department’s website at www.teach.qld.gov.au
All required documentation is to be provided by the closing date as incomplete applications may result in a delay in processing your application and it may not be considered.
Once the selection process is complete, all applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their scholarship application. Successful applicants may be notified of the outcome of their application by phone or email prior to receiving the written notification. Successful applicants will receive a written letter of offer and a copy of the formal 2013 Step into Teaching Scholarship Agreement and Schedule. These applicants are required to respond to the offer of a scholarship within a specified period and acceptance of offers cannot be deferred. All offers are subject to the successful applicant providing confirmation of enrolment in an initial teacher education program for 2013.
