Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) Scholarship

The scholarship is available to Science/ICT or Engineering undergraduates who are of Indigenous background or located in rural or remote locations and of low socio-economic background. Students must be undertaking a Science/ICT or Engineering degree which includes elements of mathematics, statistics or computation.

Eligibility Criteria

 

To be eligible to receive The Science and Industry Endowment Fund Scholarship an applicant must:

  • Identify as an Australian Indigenous person or
  • Your permanent home address is in a region classified as ‘outer regional’, ‘remote’ or ‘very remote’ under the Australian Standard Geographical Remoteness Classification (ASGC) and be able to demonstrate low socio economic background
  • Demonstrate low socio economic background
  • Be commencing full-time study in a science/IT or engineering degree (or other degree with significant science or engineering content) at CQUniversity Australia in Term 1, 2013.
  • Not be in receipt of any other substantial competitive scholarship

Applicants will be assessed based on;

  • An application form
  • Evidence of past academic achievement (supporting documentation required)
  • A written submission addressing the following criteria:
  • Career aspirations
  • How the scholarship will assist you

Additional Information

Successful applicants must:

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress. A recipient will be considered to have maintained satisfactory progress if they successfully pass all courses in each term of their enrolment.
  • Remain enrolled full-time in the program for which they were awarded the scholarship

How do I apply?

To apply for the scholarship:

  1. Read the Scholarship Guidelines
  2. Complete a Scholarship Application Form
  3. Ensure all  supporting documentation is completed and attached as outlined in the Scholarship Guidelines
  4. Submit your Scholarship Application to the Student Support Centre by the closing date – refer to the Scholarship Application Form for submission options

Please Note: Complete Applications must be received at the Student Support Centre, Scholarships Office by the closing date.

How will I know the outcome of my application?

A selection panel, consisting of representatives from CQUniversity will meet to determine the successful applicant. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications as soon as possible after the selection panel sits. annual payment of $8000 is paid in two terms, $4000 in Term 1 and $4000 in Term 2. Payment of the scholarship will be made via electronic funds transfer as soon possible after final enrolment checks at Census dates each term.
