Equity Merit Scholarship

The Equity Merit Scholarship assists CQUniversity students on low income with financial assistance for educational expenses such as prescribed textbooks and stationery.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to receive the Equity Merit Scholarship (EMS) applicants:

  • Must be in receipt of a Centrelink benefit or can demonstrate low personal/family income
  • Must be commencing or continuing in an Undergraduate program at CQUniversity
  • Must be undertaking a full-time study load unless there are extenuating circumstances that prevent you from studying full-time in the term for which you are applying for the scholarship
  • Must be a Commonwealth supported AND undergraduate student at CQUniversity
  • Can NOT be receiving a Commonwealth scholarship
  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or holder of a Humanitarian Visa

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on their ability to demonstrate low personal/family income as well as the strength of their Personal Statement as outlined in Section 4. of the Application.

Academic progress will be taken into consideration for those applicants who are continuing CQUniversity students. A student will be seen as having made successful academic progress as per the Monitoring Academic Progress Policy.

The Equity Merit Scholarship is a financial supplement and is not intended to cover all of your educational expenses.

Terms and Conditions of the Scholarship

Successful applicants must be enrolled in the approved number of courses for which the scholarship was awarded at Census date of term.

 

Payment of the Scholarship

Successful recipients studying a full-time load will receive a payment of $600 and successful recipients studying a part-time load will receive the prorata payment of $300.

Payment of the scholarship will be made via electronic funds transfer as soon as possible after final enrolment checks at Census date.

How do I apply?

To apply for the Equity Merit Scholarship:

  1. Read the Scholarship Guidelines
  2. Complete a Scholarship Application Form 
  3. Ensure all supporting documentation is completed and attached as outlined in the Scholarship Guidelines and Application Form
  4. Submit your Scholarship Application to the Student Support Centre by the closing date - refer to the Scholarship Application Form for submission options
Please note: Complete Applications must be received at the Student Support Centre, Scholarships Office by the closing date.

How will I know the outcome of my application?

A selection panel will meet to determine the successful applicants. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications as soon as possible after the selection panel sits.
