Equity Compulsory Placement Initiative

The Equity Compulsory Placement Initiative (ECPI) assists CQUniversity students on low income to meet some of the additional costs they incur when undertaking compulsory unpaid work placements as part of their academic program.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ECPI, a student must:

  • be in receipt of a Centrelink Benefit or can demonstrate low personal/family income;
  • be undertaking a full-time block of compulsory unpaid work placement for at least one week;*
  • demonstrate that the additional costs incurred as a result of their compulsory placement will result in financial hardship;
  • be a Commonwealth supported AND undergraduate student at CQUniversity;
  • be an Australian Citizen,  Australian Permanent Resident or holder of a Humanitarian Visa

*Consideration will be given to students undertaking part-time compulsory placement where additional financial hardship can be demonstrated.

Please be aware that in some circumstances the Student Support Centre may be required to confirm the details of your work placement with your placement supervisor/coordinator.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on their ability to demonstrate low personal/family income as well as the degree of financial hardship that they will incur as a result of additional costs to attend compulsory unpaid work placement.

The Equity Compulsory Placement is a financial supplement and is not intended to cover all of the costs associated with attending your placement.

Additional Information

  • If your placement is terminated or you withdraw prior to completion you should notify the Student Support Centre immediately.

  • A new application is required for each subsequent placement

  •  Ensure that your application reaches the Student Support Centre, Building 31 in Rockhampton from two (2) to six (6) weeks prior to commencement of your placement. Payments will not be backdated if received after two weeks prior to commencement of your placement;

Payment of Initiative

Payment of the initiative will be made via electronic funds transfer. The initiative may be paid in fortnightly instalments at the discretion of the Student Support Centre.

How do I apply?

To apply for the Equity Compulsory Placement Initiative:

  1. Read the Scholarship Guidelines
  2. Complete a Scholarship Application Form 
  3. Ensure all  supporting documentation is completed and attached as outlined in the Scholarship Guidelines and Application Form
  4. Submit your Scholarship Application to the Student Support Centre prior to attending your compulsory placement – refer to the Scholarship Application Form for submission options

How will I know the outcome of my application?

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications as soon as possible after they have been assessed.
