'Edwin Tesch' Premier Fruits Group and Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers Memorial Scholarship

The ‘Edwin Tesch’ Premier Fruits Group and Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers Memorial Scholarship will provide support and encouragement to one student enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Agricultural and Food Science specialisation) for a period of one year.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to receive The ‘Edwin Tesch’ Premier Fruits Group and Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers Memorial Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be entering into their 2nd Year of study in a CU18 - Bachelor of Science and entering into the specialisation of Agricultural and Food Science.
  • Be enrolled on-campus at Bundaberg or Rockhampton CQUniversity campuses* 
  • Be studying full-time or part-time, however preference will be given to students studying full-time
  • Be an Australian Citizen; Australian Permanent Resident or holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa
* It is preferred applicants are enrolled to complete their second year studies on-campus at the Bundaberg or Rockhampton campus of CQUniversity.  Distance Education students residing in the Bundaberg Regional Council area will however be considered, although preference may be given to on-campus applicants to retain the intent of the Memorial Scholarship.

Selection Criteria

Each Applicant will be assessed based on an application form and a written submission of no more than 750 words addressing the following criteria:

  • Academic Achievement
  • Career Aspirations
  • Involvement in their Community

Terms and Conditions of the Scholarship

The Scholarship recipient will be offered the opportunity to undertake three (3) weeks of (unpaid) work experience during the year, with a mandatory minimum of one (1) week’s work experience to be completed with Premier Fruits Group at either its Bundaberg or Brisbane operations, or both. Details are to be negotiated between the recipient, Premier Fruits Group and BFVG.

The Successful Applicant must also:

  • Maintain satisfactory progress. A recipient will be considered to have maintained satisfactory progress if they successfully pass all courses in each Term of their enrolment.
  • Maintain enrolment as per the eligibility criteria.
  • Be enrolled at CQUniversity at the time of Census Date

If the recipient fails to meet these requirements Premier Fruits Group and BFVG may request the recipient to repay all monies received from the Scholarship.

Payment of the Scholarship

The scholarship sis paid in two instalments, $1500 in Term 1 and $1500 in Term 2. Payment of the scholarship will be made via electronic funds transfer as soon possible after final enrolment checks at Census date of each term.

How do I apply?

To apply for the ‘Edwin Tesch’ Premier Fruits Group and Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers Memorial Scholarship:

  1. Read the Scholarship Guidelines
  2. Complete a Scholarship Application Form
  3. Ensure all  supporting documentation is completed and attached as outlined in the Scholarship Guidelines
  4. Submit your Scholarship Application to the Student Support Centre by the closing date – refer to the Scholarship Application Form for submission options

Please Note: Complete Applications must be received at the Student Support Centre, Scholarships Office by the closing date.

How will I know the outcome of my application?

A selection panel consisting of representatives from Premier Fruits Group, BFVG and CQUniversity will be formed to determine the successful applicant in each instance. A Scholarship will only be offered where there is an applicant of sufficient merit. It is preferred wherever possible that a face-to-face interview be conducted with all ‘short-listed’ applicants (this may be conducted through video-conferencing if distance and location of applicants/panel members is a challenge). The selection panel will provide a decision to students on the outcome of their application within 6 weeks of the closing date of the Scholarship. In cases where this is not possible, the students will be informed of a revised date within this 6 week period.
