Desmond Tabone Engineering Scholarship

The Desmond Tabone Engineering Scholarship is a $3000 annual payment available to a first year CQUniversity student who wants to specialise in Mechanical Engineering for the duration of their degree to a maximum of four years.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to receive the Desmond Tabone Engineering Scholarship, an applicant must be:

  • Entering into their 1st year of study in the area of Engineering and intending to specialise in Mechanical Engineering
  • Able to demonstrate low personal or family income for example: being in receipt of a means tested Centrelink payment.
  • Enrolled at CQUniversity at Census Date
  • Studying fulltime

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on an application form and a written submission addressing the following criteria:

  • Career Aspirations
  • Demonstrated aptitude for hands on mechanical tasks

Additional Information

Successful Applicant must:

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress. A recipient will be considered to have maintained satisfactory progress if they successfully pass all courses in each Term of their enrolment.
  • Progress into the Mechanical Engineering specialisation in their second year of study and remain enrolled in that academic program
Payment of the Scholarship

The scholarship is paid annually via electronic funds transfer as soon possible after final enrolment checks at Census date.

How do I apply?

To apply for the Desmond Tabone Engineering Scholarship:

  1. Read the Scholarship Guidelines
  2. Complete a Scholarship Application Form
  3. Ensure all  supporting documentation is completed and attached as outlined in the Scholarship Guidelines
  4. Submit your Scholarship Application to the Student Support Centre by the closing date – refer to the Scholarship Application Form for submission options

Please Note: Complete Applications must be received at the Student Support Centre, Scholarships Office by the closing date.

How will I know the outcome of my application?

A selection panel, consisting of representatives from Central Queensland University will be formed to determine the successful applicant in each instance. A scholarship will only be offered where there is an applicant of sufficient merit. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications as soon as possible after the selection panel sits.
