Is my scholarship considered taxable income?

Will my scholarship affect my Centrelink payment?

If you are in receipt of Centrelink benefits you should notify Centrelink of receiving a scholarship.

In most cases this will NOT affect your Centrelink payments. Up to $7,223 of Equity and Merit-based scholarships will be exempt from Centrelink personal and partner income tests. This applies to all payments with a personal, partner or parental income test. This means that these scholarships, usually paid by universities to students, will have less of an impact on your fortnightly Centrelink payment.

When will my CQUniversity Scholarship be paid?

CQUniversity Scholarships are paid as soon as possible after enrolment checks at Census date. Scholarships that include non-monetary components will be provided as outlined in the Scholarship Guidelines.

How will I know if my CQUniversity Scholarship has been paid?

Students in receipt of scholarships with monetary components will be sent a remittance advice via email to your student email account once payment has occurred. Please note that depending on your banking institution there may be small delays in the funds being available.

How do I apply?

Applicants need to submit an Application Form and supply all requested supporting documentation for each scholarship you are applying for. Please refer to the How do I apply? and Supporting Documentation sections of each individual scholarship.

Can I apply for more than one Scholarship?

Yes, however some scholarship guidelines restrict students from receiving multiple CQUniversity Scholarships. Please refer to individual scholarship guidelines for more detailed information.

Can I apply for a scholarship before I have received my offer for a place at University?

Yes, we encourage future CQUniversity students to apply for scholarships prior to being offered at place at CQUniversity.

What happens if I don’t pass my courses/ subjects when I am in receipt of a scholarship?

Students are required to pass their courses to continue to receive their scholarship. You should contact the Student Support Centre as soon as possible after your grades have been released to discuss further action if you have not passed your courses.

Who do I contact if I have a query about my scholarship after it’s been awarded?

Are scholarships only available to the students with the highest OP’s?

No, CQUniversity Scholarships aim to be accessible to all students. CQUniversity is dedicated to supporting you throughout your tertiary study. Our scholarships, awards and prizes and the financial assistance programs provide financial and non-financial assistance as you complete your studies with us. We strongly encourage all students to apply for scholarships to help with your studies.

I have applied for a scholarship, how will I know if I am successful?

Applicants will receive written notification of the outcome of their scholarship application as soon as possible after the Scholarship Selection Panel sits.
