    §  1999 Manager of the NSW Department of Health Seeding Grant ($66,000) to the NSW Midwives Association, to develop educational packages for midwives; with particular emphasis on rural midwives needs in relation to postgraduate education. Time frame and strategic plan was developed prior to my resignation as chair of this committee. Reviewed the two packages that were developed and published. The two packages were 1. Shoulder dystocia 2. Pre-eclampsia.

     

    §   Invited by the Nurses and Midwives Board of New South Wales to develop Midwifery Clinical Scenarios for Nurse Practitioner Interviews. Recommended and arranged for other suitable midwives to contribute to this process.

    RESEARCH ACIVITIES

     

    I completed my PhD titled Incorporating Cultural Sensitivity into Professional Midwifery Practice in 2008. 

     

     

    Research Funding

    2009:     Co-operative Evaluation of Practice Development in a Maternity Service. UOW Research. This evaluation will be disseminated through publications. 

     

     

    2004:     Faculty Research Committee Small Grants Scheme submitted with Associate Professor P. Else and Dr B. Myer Grant awarded .  This study was included in A Randomised Trial of DHA in Pregnancy to Prevent Postnatal Depressive Symptoms and Enhance Neurodevelopment in Children: The Domino Trial, which is part of a multicentre study (5 centres) and has received an NHMRC grant with a budget of two million dollars over the 4 year duration of the study.

     

    2002:     Chief Investigator University Research Committee Strategic Research Development Grants Scheme – Funding for the Pregnancy in Fatty Acids Study. 

     

    1998:     Functional Status after Fatherhood:  An Australian Study. Funding Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences. Results from this study have been published in two refereed journals and presented at international and local conferences.

     

    Conference funding

     

    2002:     NSW Nurses Association, The Cavell Trust Fund-  to attend the International Congress of Midwives 26th Triennial Congress Midwives and Women Together for the Family of the World, April 14 –18, 2002. Vienna, to conduct two presentations relating to my PhD and one presentation relating to the Viva evaluations.

     

    2002:     AustralianCollege of Midwives – Funding to attend the above conference for the

                  above presentations.

     

    1998:     New South Wales Nurses’ Registration Board (NMB) Category 4 scholarship –
