    Professional Experience

Aaron completed an undergraduate degree in Human Movement Science at CQ University in 2005. He then went on to obtain a first class Honours degree in sport and exercise physiology at CQ University in 2006, investigating the physiological and performance effects of lower-body compression garments during endurance cycling. Following this, Aaron commenced postgraduate study at CQ University and was awarded his PhD in 2011. During his postgraduate studies, Aaron quantified the activity demands of male basketball match play and used this data to develop the Basketball Exercise Simulation Test (BEST).

Throughout his studies, Aaron has gained experience working with a number of professional industry bodies. Since 2008, Aaron has occupied a basketball conditioning coach position with the Rockhampton Rockets. He has also performed health screening consultancy for multiple companies. In addition, Aaron worked with the Australian Sports Commission as the regional talent assessment centre coordinator for central Queensland from 2008-2011.

    Research Interests

Aaron's major research interests involve various elements of basketball. Focal points of his research include quantifying basketball match and training demands, assessing the effects of various training interventions, developing fitness and performance assessment techniques and tracking changes in fitness and performance across different seasonal phases. Aaron also intends to expand these applications to other team sports. In addition, Aaron is interested in examining the effects of ergogenic aids, such as compression garments, on various components of sports performance and recovery.
