I have almost twenty years experience in academic teaching and research. My previous projects include research on young people presenting ‘at risk’ in state school communities, community aged care programs, regional development, community development, online learning and adult/professional education. My formal academic qualifications are in Sociology and Political Philosophy, and I also hold a Master in professional education. My primary expertise is in the theory and practical analyses of social power. I have taught in a number of disciplines, including Sociology, Political and Policy Studies, Community Development, and Sustainable Regional Development. Before becoming an academic, I worked in the welfare and human services field. Currently I teach social policy and statutory contexts of human services. I have a number of research students, and I am the School's Graduate Research Coordinator. I am also the faculty-elected Health and Safety Representative.
My research interests include social power, care of the elderly in community, the
development of civil society in the age of globalization and ICT, workplace
