Co-recipient with Desleigh DeJonge and Merrill Turpin of a University of Queensland Teaching and Learning Award for the Enhancement of Student Learning. This award recognised work over 6 years in facilitating the professional transition of final year occupational therapy students though an industry- based service development and evaluation course (10000).
2007 co-recipient with Lisa Nissen and Rosalie Boyce of a Faculty of Health Sciences Teaching and Learning Fellowship for Interprofessional Education. The fellowship along with a grant from the National Prescribing Service (NPS) provided support for the development of two innovative on-line educational modules for students and graduates of the health sciences to learn about interprofessional practice with a focus on safe use of medications. The NPS now uses these modules nationally to promote safe use of medications in healthcare teams. The modules also form part of the interprofessional education curriculum (IPE) for students of the faculty of Health Sciences at UQ.
2006 recipient along with Dr. Rosalie Boyce of a Faculty of Health Sciences Teaching and Learning Fellowship for Interprofessional Education. The funding allowed us to develop and stage the first Australian Health Care Team Challenge. This learning activity brought together teams of students from all of the health sciences in an interactive case based public challenge. It attracted wide attention and we have subsequently attracted 2 grants to develop a national and international model. www.healthfusionteamchallenge.com
1995 recipient of a National Research Award from Australian Association of Occupational Therapists. This award recognised the work I carried along with my supervisor Professor Jenny Strong in establishing an evidence-base for multi-disciplinary pain programs in public hospitals.
1994 recipient of a Rainbow Fellowship Travel Award for Allied Health Professionals. This award recognised the work I was doing in coordinating the multi-disciplinary pain clinic at a major teaching hospital and the funds allowed me to attend and present a paper at the International Pain Conference when it was held in Australia
