    Brendan Donnelly has been a leacturer at CQUniversity for more than 3 years. His key interest areas include the hydrogeology of very high spoil piles, the behaviour of groundwater on mine sites and adressing the gap in engineering qualifications at AQF levels 5 and 6. Brendan has a Bachelors of Engineering (Mining) and is currently working on his Masters by Research.

    In his spare time Brendan supports Relay for Life fund raising activities, plays golf, enjoys fishing, beachcombing and watching youtube videos about astro-physics and cosmology.

    Brendan moved to Mackay from Brisbane to live on the beach at Shoal Point.

    Awards

    Brendan was awarded a Mount Isa Mines scholarship to undertake his studies in Mining Engineering in 1980.

    1997 – 2000         Regional Manager, Boral Shotcrete, Ran shotcrete operations in North West Queensland for several different mines including MIM. Developed shotcrete operations in Western Australia at several gold and nickel mines

    • Developed database management system for subcontracting of home construction
    • Submitted five plans a week to council for approval
    • Supervised construction of houses from bare block to “Lock Up” stage.

    Responsibilities

    As a lecturer in mining engineering at CQUniversity Brendan is responsible for the delivery and quality of mining courses in the associate degree qualifications of mining and geoscience. When required he also lectures first and second year engneering students. Brendan assists in the supervision of mining related post graduate research students. He is involved in the development of the Minerals Industry National Associate Degree (MINAD) project representing CQUniversity to the Minerals Tertiay Education Council (MTEC).
