Senior Research Officer
PhD, B Sci (Biol)(Hons), B Environ Sci
Dr Susan Kinnear leads a research program in sustainable regional development at CQUniversity Australia, and is currently the deputy director for the Centre for Environmental Management. Her interests include the nexus between sustainable regional development, regional policy, regional advantage, innovation, environmental management and the challenges of rapid growth in resource-intensive regions. Susan is also vitally interested in regional collaborative practices and the role of regional development agencies.
Since 2010, Susan has successfully secured and managed contract research projects to the value of almost $AU700,000 for clients across industry, the tertiary sector, and local, state and federal government.
In addition to research projects, Susan has undertaken a range postgraduate course writing, research student supervision and tertiary teaching. She currently co-supervises eight doctoral and masters students across freshwater ecology, peri-urban development/sustainable development in regional Australia, regional supply chain analysis and business incubation.
Susan holds a PhD in the experimental environmental sciences (aquatic toxicology), a B Science (Biology) (First Class Honours) and a B Environmental Science (with distinction).
Susan was named the Queensland Young Achiever of the Year (Environment) in 2007.
