Dr Danya Hodgetts is a sport manager, lecturer and researcher who strives to combine practitioner skills and industry experience with theory, best practice and research. In her roles as National Development Manager with Surf Life Saving Australia, and Regional Manager with the Australian Sports Commission, Danya led teams that implemented programs in coaching, officiating, club & school participation, high performance and member development.

From 2004-09, Danya was a Lecturer and Program Director of Health and Exercise Studies at Central Queensland University. This tenure gave her greater insight into sport management through facilitating the learning of future sport managers and researching the discipline. Danya’s enthusiasm for technology allowed her to implement innovative online learning programs for students and conduct research in the area of social viral marketing and sport education accessibility. She has an Honours Degree in Human Movement Science, a Masters in Business Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) examining how major events can be leveraged to create legacies for community sport. In 2009-10 Danya worked with the Corporate Governance section at CQUniversity developing an academic support system to allow tertiary courses and programs to be benchmarked and improved.

Throughout this time, Danya continued to interact and consult with the industry, working with a range of Australian and New Zealand sporting organisations and government bodies in the areas of strategic planning and review, sport development and education and training.

Danya is obsessive about organisation, delivering real outcomes and making things happen. She is passionate about sport and its ability to generate social change. She is not an elite athlete.

@DocConnor i guess it was inevitable, but to the extent of anticipating an internal draft is pretty extreme forecasting even 3 months ago
