Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Non-Invasive Assessment

Position Statement

This appointment offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with   an established group under the direction of Prof Kerry Walsh. Current   programs include the development of NIRS, soft X-ray and acoustic –   firmness non-invasive technologies. While this position is based in   Rockhampton the appointee may also be required to work for periods with   collaborators in Sydney, Melbourne and elsewhere.

Duties and Accountabilities

Key Selection Criteria: 1. A PhD in a relevant field; 2. Research experience; 3. Programming   competence; 4. Statistical knowledge; 5. Evidence of ability to   communicate positively with the agricultural community, including   land-owners and practitioners of agricultural science in government and   industry; 6. Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working as a   member of teaching and research teams; 7. Experience in or capacity for   honours and postgraduate student supervision.

Desirable Selection Criteria: 1. Familiarity with Matlab, Labview, Unscrambler or SAS; 2.   Spectroscopy experience; 3. Teaching experience at a tertiary level and a   demonstrable commitment to quality in teaching and learning in a   cross-disciplinary environment; 4. Record of attracting competitive   research funds; 5. research publication record in international   peer-review journals
