Data mininginvolves the extraction of latent knowledge from data that are not readily perceivable by human. It is a multi-disciplinary research field with potential applications in many areas and deals with theoretical and practical concepts for better understanding of systems where level of uncertainty is high and exact mathematical modelling is difficult. The Data Mining group is involved in the investigation of data mining approaches to a number of areas including climate change perception and modelling at fine regional scale, hydro-informatics, medical diagnostics, health informatics and advanced statistical analysis along with incorporation of computational intelligence concepts. The group has a particular focus on data mining research issues as they relate to Central Queensland.
